What does general gynecology cover?
General gynecology is the non-surgical, day-to-day care of the uterus, ovaries, cervix, vagina and vulva. It is where most women start when something feels different, and where routine prevention happens.
| Area | Common reasons to visit | Start here |
|---|---|---|
| Screening & check-ups | Annual exam, Pap smear, HPV test, pre-travel or pre-pregnancy check | Pap smear test |
| Periods | Heavy, painful, irregular or missing periods, PMS | Menstrual disorders |
| Bleeding | Spotting between periods, after sex or after menopause | Vaginal bleeding |
| Infections | Discharge, itching, odor, burning when urinating | Vaginal infections |
| Pain & masses | Pelvic pain, cysts, fibroids, endometriosis | Pelvic ultrasound |
| Hormones & life stages | Acne or hair changes, cycle changes, perimenopause, menopause | Hormonal imbalance |
When should you see a gynecologist?
Many visits are routine, but some symptoms deserve a check-up soon rather than waiting until you are home:
- Periods that suddenly become much heavier, more painful or irregular
- Bleeding between periods, after intercourse or any bleeding after menopause
- New pelvic pain, pressure or bloating that does not settle
- Unusual discharge, itching or a sore, or a possible STI exposure
- No period for three months (or a possible pregnancy)
- An overdue Pap smear or HPV test
Sexual health and STI testing are covered in our STD testing section; planned procedures such as hysteroscopy or laparoscopy are in surgical gynecology.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an appointment for a gynecology visit?
Walk-ins are welcome during clinic hours (Mon–Fri 9:00–18:00 with a lunch break 12:30–13:30, Sat 9:00–13:00). Messaging ahead on WhatsApp or KakaoTalk can shorten your wait.
Can I see a gynecologist in Seoul without Korean insurance?
Yes. You can pay directly with a card or cash, and ask for an English receipt and diagnosis to claim from your travel or international insurance.
Is a pelvic exam always needed?
No. It depends on your concern. Many issues are assessed by talking and with ultrasound or a urine test; any exam is explained first and done only with your consent.
Can I visit during my period?
For most problems, yes, and bleeding itself is often the reason to come. For a Pap smear, it is usually better to book when you are not bleeding heavily.
Will I get documents in English?
Yes. Diagnosis notes, test results, receipts and medical certificates can be issued in English on request.
