Monsplasty fat removal is liposuction of the mons pubis — the fatty area over the pubic bone — to reduce fullness that shows in clothing or swimwear. It suits women with good skin elasticity whose mons stays full despite weight loss. It takes about 1–2 hours through tiny incisions; swelling can last weeks, and the final contour appears over 3–6 months.

What is monsplasty fat removal?
The mons pubis is the cushion of fat and skin over the pubic bone. In some women it is naturally fuller, or it stays prominent after pregnancy or weight change. Monsplasty fat removal uses liposuction to remove part of this fat through two or three tiny incisions, giving a flatter contour.
This page focuses on the fat-reduction approach. If the skin is loose or sagging, a lift may be needed instead — see mons pubis reduction for all options.
Liposuction or lift: which suits you?
| Liposuction (this page) | Mons lift (skin excision) | |
|---|---|---|
| Main problem | Excess fat, good skin tone | Loose or sagging skin, with or without fat |
| Incisions | A few tiny entry points | A low horizontal scar, often hidden by underwear |
| Downtime | About 3–7 days for desk work | Usually longer |
| Often combined with | Labia majora reshaping if needed | Liposuction or abdominal procedures |
Liposuction is not a weight-loss method. If the full mons is part of overall weight gain, a stable weight first gives a more lasting result.
- A visible bulge in fitted clothing
- Fullness that remains after weight loss
- Discomfort with swimwear or leggings
- Aims for a flatter, smoother contour
- Better balance with the abdomen and thighs
- Many patients notice clothes fit more comfortably
- Tiny incisions with modest downtime
Your procedure at Yoonho, step by step
- Consultation in English Your goals, weight history and health are reviewed, and skin elasticity is assessed.
- Plan and estimate The doctor explains whether liposuction alone is suitable, the expected change and the risks, with a written estimate.
- Preparation Fasting if sedation is used; blood thinners and some supplements may need to be paused, as advised.
- Procedure A tumescent (numbing) solution is infiltrated, then a slim cannula removes fat through tiny incisions.
- Compression A compression garment is fitted to reduce swelling.
- Follow-up A check about a week later, then a review once swelling has settled.
Recovery timeline
- Day 0–3 Soreness, swelling and bruising, which may spread to the labia; this is expected. Wear the compression garment as instructed.
- Day 3–7 Most women return to desk work.
- Week 2–4 Light exercise can usually restart; intercourse when comfortable and as advised.
- Week 4–6 Most strenuous activity resumes.
- Month 3–6 Final contour as residual swelling resolves.
Risks and limits
Possible risks include bruising, prolonged swelling, numbness, contour irregularities or dents, asymmetry, infection, fluid collection (seroma) and, rarely, blood clots. If the skin is loose, removing fat can make sagging more visible. Fat can return in the area with weight gain.
Cost and insurance
As a general guide, mons pubis reduction costs about ₩3,000,000–₩6,000,000, depending on the extent of treatment and anesthesia. A written estimate is given after consultation. It is a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by National Health Insurance — see health insurance for foreigners.
At Yoonho Women's Hospital in Apgujeong, Seoul, mons procedures are performed by Dr. Joonho Cho within the cosmetic gynecology service. For liposuction of other body areas, which Yoonho does not perform, see the liposuction clinics guide.

Frequently asked questions
Is mons liposuction the same as a FUPA lift?
Not exactly. Liposuction removes fat only. A lift removes loose skin as well and leaves a low scar. Many women need only liposuction; those with sagging skin may need a lift.
Will the result be permanent?
Removed fat cells do not grow back, but remaining fat can enlarge with weight gain. Keeping a stable weight helps maintain the result.
Why are my labia swollen after the procedure?
Fluid naturally moves downward, so labial swelling and bruising are common in the first week or two and usually settle on their own.
How long should I stay in Seoul?
Plan about one week so you can have a check-up before flying. Wear compression and move your legs regularly during the flight.
Does Yoonho do liposuction elsewhere on the body?
No. Yoonho performs mons pubis procedures as part of intimate gynecology only.
