What is the ParaGard IUD?
ParaGard is the best-known copper IUD in the United States. It follows the Copper T380A design: a flexible plastic T about 3 cm long, with fine copper wire wound around the stem and copper sleeves on each arm, giving 380 mm² of copper in total. Two threads hang through the cervix so the device can be checked and removed.
Like all copper IUDs, it contains no hormones, works mainly by preventing fertilization, and is over 99% effective. It can also be used as emergency contraception within 5 days of unprotected sex.
Is ParaGard available in Korea?
Medical devices sold in Korea must be approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and the brands on the market differ from those in the US. The ParaGard brand itself may not be available, but Korean clinics use copper IUDs from other manufacturers, some of them based on the same T380A design.

Who does a ParaGard-type IUD suit?
